Dr. Vrijraj Rathod (Birjoo) is a highly trained electrophysiologist and consultant Cardiologist, treating patients with heart rhythm disturbances at Barts Hospital and Dartford and Gravesend NHS trust. He obtained his medical degree from Imperial College with multiple academic merits.
After completing his training in the UK, he pursued two international fellowships in Electrophysiology and devices, initially under Professor Stiles in New Zealand and then with Professor Jonathan Kalman at the world-renowned Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne. Before his substantive appointment, he was a Locum Electrophysiology consultant at Royal Brompton, managing patients with congenital heart disease and channelopathies.
During his training, Dr. Rathod was awarded the prestigious British Heart Foundation fellowship to conduct research on the mechanism of congenital long QT syndrome, which led to his PhD. He is also passionate about teaching and was the training representative during his postgraduate training. He has been nominated for numerous prizes for his postgraduate training and assists with undergraduate teaching.
